Walking Tours
Sign up for a Glenwood Cemetery walking tour
Preservation Houston, in partnership with Glenwood Cemetery, offers public docent-guided walking tours of the cemetery four times a year. These tours are available by reservation only.
Beginning in 2013, we will alternate between two tours: Historic Glenwood Cemetery, our "core tour" that gives an overview of the cemetery's history and some of the notable people buried there, and The Women of Glenwood, a tour that focuses on the stories of the remarkable women interred at Glenwood. Click on any of the following dates to make a reservation:
All times and dates are subject to change in the event a burial is scheduled on the date of the tour or in case of inclement weather. Time changes will be posted on this web page, and those holding reservations will be notified as far in advance as possible.
Please note the tours are walking tours and all vehicles will be left near the cemetery entrance. The route covers approximately 1.5 miles at a very leisurely pace. There are no public restrooms available on the property.
To reserve a spot on a Glenwood walking tour, click on one of the dates above. Note that space on the tours is limited and reservations will be guaranteed on a first come, first served basis. The price for the Glenwood tours is $10 per person / $7 for Preservation Houston members and students, payable at the time you make your reservation. Proceeds from this tour benefit Preservation Houston.
