Join us online at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, for a behind-the-scenes look at the 2025 Good Brick Award recipients, a remarkable group of projects that reflect the scope and spirit of preservation in Houston today.
During this program, PH Programs Director Jim Parsons will share dramatic before-and-after photos and tell the stories behind this year’s award-winning work, from personal passion projects to major community efforts. These are buildings that were rescued, reimagined and restored with vision, craftsmanship and care.
The 2025 Good Brick winners include the restoration of the century-old Buffalo Soldiers National Museum, where precise, almost surgical masonry repairs brought new life to a historic Third Ward landmark. In Meyerland, the first elevated home ever to receive a Good Brick shows how thoughtful design can protect a modernist house from future flooding without sacrificing its architectural character. And the President’s Award honors Jon Deal, whose bold reinventions of industrial spaces including Sawyer Yards have redefined what preservation can look like in Houston.
From mid-century homes and neighborhood churches to downtown landmarks and historic publications, the 2025 Good Brick Awards celebrate the people and projects that are keeping Houston’s architectural heritage alive — and inspiring the next generation to do the same.
