We’re excited to launch a new series of PH Travels exploring remarkable destinations across Texas, beginning with one of America’s most historic and captivating places.

Few American cities offer the depth and variety of San Antonio. More than three centuries of history have shaped a city where Spanish colonial landmarks, Victorian neighborhoods, Modern architecture and innovative redevelopment exist side by side. It’s a place that rewards curiosity, and rewards returning.

Join Preservation Houston in the Alamo City from March 18–21, 2027, as PH Travels continues its mission to explore the places where preservation, architecture and community intersect. Each trip offers curated access to significant sites and the people who steward them — an inside look at the architecture, landscapes and preservation decisions that give a place its character. We’re delighted to have PH member and veteran trip planner Lynn Kelly helping guide this journey.

About our San Antonio visit

Our four-day exploration of San Antonio will extend well beyond the familiar. Together, we’ll trace the evolution of downtown and the River Walk, experience the revitalized Pearl district, stroll the historic King William neighborhood and visit remarkable homes and places that aren’t typically part of a visitor's itinerary. Along the way, we’ll hear from the architects, historians, preservationists and community leaders whose work is helping shape San Antonio’s future while preserving its past.

Through exclusive access and insider experiences, every stop has been selected to deepen your understanding of the city’s architecture, history and culture, offering a look at San Antonio that only Preservation Houston can provide.

As always, PH Travels emphasizes thoughtful interpretation, relaxed pacing and opportunities to experience each destination in meaningful ways. Whether you’re visiting San Antonio for the first time or the fiftieth, you’ll return home with a fresh appreciation for one of Texas’ most remarkable cities.

Travel coordinator Lynn Kelly will join Preservation Houston’s Jim Parsons to lead this carefully curated journey, combining iconic landmarks, private tours, conversations with local experts and exceptional dining to reveal San Antonio from a Preservation Houston perspective.

The trip includes:

  • Three nights’ accommodations at Kimpton Hotel Santo, an award-winning boutique hotel that seamlessly blends contemporary design with the restored c. 1858 German-English School

  • Three dinners, two lunches and a farewell brunch at some of San Antonio’s most memorable restaurants

  • Exclusive experiences, including private tours, receptions, access to remarkable historic homes and a chartered cruise along the San Antonio River

  • A thoughtfully curated exploration of the Alamo City led by local historians, preservation professionals and expert guides

  • Transportation for all scheduled group activities

  • All admissions, guided tours and gratuities for included activities

  • Pre-tour educational materials and an exclusive pre-tour reception in Houston

Pricing and eligibility

$2,350 per person / double occupancy
$2,775 per person / single occupancy

Transportation to and from San Antonio is not included and is the responsibility of each traveler.

A nonrefundable $1,000 deposit per traveler is required to reserve your place.

PH Travels is a benefit of Preservation Houston membership. If you are not a current member, please join prior to registering for the trip.

Cancellation and refunds

A $1,000 nonrefundable deposit is required to secure your reservation. The remaining balance is due in full by January 17, 2027. If full payment is not received by that date, your reservation will be canceled and the deposit forfeited.

If you need to cancel your reservation for any reason, you must notify Preservation Houston in writing.

  • Cancellations by January 17, 2027: All payments beyond the $1,000 deposit will be refunded.

  • Cancellations after January 17, 2027: No refunds are available, but you may transfer your reservation to another traveler with no penalty.
