2026 Pier & Beam Spring Party
Victor Lundy trained under Walter Gropius at Harvard and became one of the most inventive architects of his generation. The Bellaire home and studio he completed in 1988 for himself and his wife, Anstis, is a masterwork of postwar American modernism: sweeping curves, an elliptical-arched studio, floor-to-ceiling glass and light-filled spaces that dissolve the boundary between structure and landscape. It’s the kind of space most people only ever see in photographs.
When the house was threatened with demolition in 2025, Preservation Houston joined Houston Mod, Docomomo US and the Texas Historical Foundation to rally awareness and national attention. The house was ultimately saved when Houston preservationists Carol and Dan Price purchased it in an off-market deal. We’ll be seeing it this spring before restoration begins. It’s an extraordinary chance to experience the property as Lundy left it.

Tickets
Tickets will be available at the door for $95 for individuals and $150 for couples.
Each ticket includes party admission, refreshments and a one-year membership in Pier & Beam and Preservation Houston, the city’s only nonprofit organization dedicated to preservation education and advocacy. (If you have an active P&B membership, no worries — we’ll add a year to your existing membership.)
Location and parking
The Lundy House and Studio is located at 701 Mulberry Lane in Bellaire. Street parking is available on the east side of Mulberry (the opposite side of the street from the house), but parking is limited. We highly recommend carpooling or using a rideshare if possible.
