Join us Monday, May 19, for an evening of connection, celebration and discovery at Preservation Houston’s 2025 Member Reception and Meeting. This year’s event will take place at the Buffalo Soldiers National Museum, which was honored with a 2025 Good Brick Award for the expert restoration of its historic masonry. The century-old building, originally the Houston Light Guard Armory, has been carefully preserved to continue its role as a cultural anchor in the Third Ward.
The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a reception in the museum’s Herzstein Gallery. Enjoy drinks and light bites while catching up with fellow members and friends. At 7 p.m., we’ll hold a brief business meeting to welcome new leadership, thank departing board members and highlight the progress that your support has made possible over the past year.
The event will conclude with a special program featuring James Gast, author of The Astrodome: Building an American Spectacle, who will share the story behind the construction of Houston’s iconic domed stadium as it celebrates its 60th anniversary. Often called the “Eighth Wonder of the World,” the Astrodome was a bold experiment in architecture, engineering and civic ambition that captured the world’s attention and helped shape Space City’s identity.
Copies of The Astrodome will be available for purchase and signing at the event.
