Pier & Beam heads to the East End on Wednesday evening, February 4, for happy hour at Neighbors. The all-day café and gathering spot is part of The Plant, a Good Brick Award-winning project at the heart of a revitalized Harrisburg Boulevard corridor.
Housed in the former Imperial Laundry building, The Plant has become a hub for small local businesses and a catalyst for renewed street life in the East End. Neighbors anchors the space with expertly brewed coffee, pizza, salads, sandwiches, wine and a curated cocktail list — equally suited to lingering conversations or a quick drink with friends.
During the evening, we’ll hear briefly from Neighbors’ manager about the concept behind the space and how the buildout took shape, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how a historic building was adapted for contemporary use and community life.
Pier & Beam is Preservation Houston’s next-generation member group for individuals ages 21–45, bringing together people interested in architecture, history and the ways preservation intersects with Houston’s growth and change. Informal gatherings like this one are a chance to connect and explore the city together, and they’re also a great way to introduce new friends to the group.
We’ll be at Neighbors, 3401 Harrisburg Boulevard, from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 4. Pier & Beam happy hours are casual and come-as-you-are; as always, come when you can, leave when you’re ready and pick up your own tab. Pier & Beamers are also welcome to stick around for bingo starting at 8:30 p.m.
